What is DecadesILove.com?
DecadesILove.com is a free social networking website for nostalgia lovers to have their very own home on the web, where they can share their passions and re-discover the great memories of yesterday!
What can I do on the site?
As a member, you can create a personal profile page to which you’ll have your own direct url to share and interact with others. There you can share all about yourself and your interests, upload your favorite videos (personal or from YouTube, Google, etc.), upload your favorite songs, photos, post blogs, create your own groups & polls, and chat up a storm on the message board forums! You can also have fun playing the trivia games in the Lounges!
How do I update my profile and add my own content to the site?
When you log-in to the site, you will be on your MAIN page tab. Note the row of tabs just above the Message Center heading. To update your profile, click the SETTINGS tab. From there you have four choices. You can update your account and profile settings, and add or change your profile picture. To upload content, you click on the SUBMIT ITEMS tab and choose from the selection there to upload videos, music, pictures, post blogs and create your own polls!
How much content can I upload to the site?
At present, each standard member receives 20MB of server space to add content such as videos, MP3 files and photos. We will also soon offer membership upgrades for members who would like to upload larger amounts of content, and/or remove ads upon log-in.
What is an active member?
To qualify as an active member, you must have at least fifty (50) activity points and log in at least once per week and engage in some activity on the site, i.e. add/view content, comments, messages, interact with other members, etc. (The definition of an active member is subject to change at any time. If such a change occurs, members are notified via e-mail.)
What are activity points?
Activity points are located in brackets to the right of the image of your profile. You accumulate points with each activity you engage in on the site - commenting, uploading content, blogging, using the invite tool, etc. The scale works as follows:
- 50 points = one blue star
- 600 points = five blue stars
- 700 points = one yellow star, four blue
- 1,500 points = five yellow stars
- 2,000 points = 1 orange/red star, four yellow
- 4,000 points = 5 orange/red stars
5 orange/red is the final transition of stars!
How can I win a gift certificate?
Two ways. 1) All active members are eligible for the monthly drawing held in that month’s Featured Lounge. The Featured Lounge is always noted on the homepage. One member’s name is drawn each month and the prize is a gift certificate to Amazon.com! 2) Score 100% on the trivia game in the Featured Lounge and be entered into the monthly drawing to win the prize in the title of the game!
How will I know if I have won a gift certificate?
Winners will be notified and prize will be delivered via the e-mail address used for sign up.
What if I find a video is not working, is inappropriate or miscategorized?
Due to the high volume of content on the site, we rely on members to advise us when something stops working or is questionable. For example, if you find a video is no longer functioning or is in any way inappropriate, please click the "Report" button just beneath the video in question and select the appropriate issue. A notification will be sent to the site administrator and we will promptly remove the video.
When adding a video, do I have to fill in the "tags" field?
Tags are not required, however they do help make your video more accessible in searches. It helps other members find them. For example, if you have uploaded a performance, it helps to place the artists' name in the tag field so it can be easily located when a member searches for that artist.
How come there's no 10's, 20's, 30's or 90's Lounge/category?
As DecadesILove.com continues to grow, plans are underway to add these Lounges. We love that there is a demand for these additional categories, and thank you for your patience. At present, you are able to upload videos, add groups, and discuss topics on these decades in the forums.
